Chrono-Shredder by Susanna Hertrich
The Chrono-Shredder by Susanna Hertrich speaks for itself.
The machine as performer. Chrono-Shredder is a poetic time-object that reminds us of the volatileness of the »now«. As hybrid object with functions similar to those of a calendar and a clock, it shreds every single day in realtime. All that time that is irrevisibly lost gets a tangible existence in form of shredded paper. As time passes by, the tattered remains of the past pile up under the device.
Great concept and idea.

Rent a White Guy By Mitch Moxley for The Atlantic Magazine
I read this article about how a company in China was recruiting expats to appear as white businessmen for their company. Why, you ask?
Recruiting fake businessmen is one way to create the image—particularly, the image of connection—that Chinese companies crave.
Below is the beginning of the article.
Not long ago I was offered work as a quality-control expert with an American company in China I’d never heard of. No experience necessary—which was good, because I had none. I’d be paid $1,000 for a week, put up in a fancy hotel, and wined and dined in Dongying, an industrial city in Shandong province I’d also never heard of. The only requirements were a fair complexion and a suit.
“I call these things ‘White Guy in a Tie’ events,” a Canadian friend of a friend named Jake told me during the recruitment pitch he gave me in Beijing, where I live. “Basically, you put on a suit, shake some hands, and make some money. We’ll be in ‘quality control,’ but nobody’s gonna be doing any quality control. You in?”

$2.5 million Diamond Soccer Ball by Shimansky
Jewellery designer Yair Shimansky is set to unveil his ‘unique’ creation at the World Cup . Made from 6620 white and 2640 black round brilliant cut South African diamonds, giving a total weight of 3500 carats , the Shimansky soccer ball is weighing around 2,2 kilograms (4.8 pounds).
“It took about three months from conception of design to manufacture of the first crystal soccer ball,” says Michele Meyer, Marketing manager for Shimansky.
The ball is currently still being manufactured because all the diamonds have not been purchased yet. Crystal replicas of the ball will be shown in their stores during the World Cup. Each replica will be auctioned with proceeds going to local charities.

Morality of Fairy Tales Part 1 - By D
I loved being a child. Things made sense back then - you cried, you got fed; you laughed, you got presents; you tensed your arse, and you shit your pants – no need for complicated “do I scrunch or do I fold” questions.
Unfortunately, as you grow older, a lot less makes sense, and this is indeed true about fairy tales. What we once considered as children to be innocent and heartfelt stories are nothing more than sordid tales of violence, sex and drug abuse that make episodes of Underbelly look like the Teletubbies. I mean who can forget such horrific tales as….
